Odie Strugeon’s “Red Rocket” 1971 Chevy Nova

IMG_0207Drag Radial Media had the opportunity to catch up with the owner and driver of the “Red Rocket” Odie Sturgeon at Northstar Dragway in Denton,Texas at the Inaugural Radial Tire Racing Association’s race. Odie and his team are based out of Moore, Oklahoma and have been competing in the X275 class for quite some now. Odie is the owner of Quality Air also based in Moore, Ok and enjoys racing every chance he gets.IMG_0220

The “Red Rocket” had a little bit of a face lift over the winter months with a fresh coat a point and some other minor details. The paint work was completed by Matt Parker of Parker”s Autobody. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Parkers-Autobody/190242331077480?pnref=lhc. IMG_0216

The car was built from the stock frame rails adding ladder bars along with the other safety features that go along with racing by none other than DDRC located in Seminole, Ok.  http://www.seminoleoklahoma.com/racecars/ IMG_0253               The 582 ci engine was built by Sunset Performance Engines located in Sherman, Texas,(http://sunsetperformanceengines.com/) with a single stage fogger nitrous system by Induction Solutions with the power transferred through a ProTorque Converter(http://www.protorque.com/) applied to a 2 speed 400 transmission built by M&M Transmissions (http://mandmtransmission.com/). Santhuff shocks are used to control the suspension set up on this little beast. IMG_0256

Odie’s personal best was actually set at Northstar Dragway at the RTRA’s event running a 4.60 et @ 154 mph. He says the 2015 season should be a great one and they plan on attending some the big races this year.IMG_1356
